Emma and Alan were married on 28th March at Buchanan Arms, Drymen. They were planning their wedding since November 2013. Thank you to the brilliant Gavin from Gavin Butler Photography for sharing his images of the day; you can catch him on his websiteFacebook and Instagram.

“The package Buchanan Arms offered was very good for such a lovely venue – it was also fairly local to us and most of our guests – the food was excellent too.”

“My favourite part of the planning was dress shopping! Alan did all of ‘his’ part; kilts, groomsmen matters etc, other than that, I just told him what we were doing and he agreed finances permitting! Haha!”

“I looked at loads of dresses online and thought they were all beautiful, nothing really stood out.  One day looking through a wedding magazine, their dress of the week – ‘The Bluebell’ by Sophia Tolli made me stop in my tracks – it was a fishtail extravaganza with a huge train made from stunning ivory lace and reminded me strangely of a beautiful swan! Haha.  I was in love with it and managed to pin it down to two stockists in Glasgow.  It was significantly less expensive in one of the two shops ‘Envious Bridal’ so I got it from there.  I tried on every dress in the shop just in case but ‘Bluebell’ was the definite winner!  So only one day of physical wedding dress shopping and it was a done deal!”

“I’m now in the process of selling it as it’s way too gorgeous to never see the light of day again although unlike most brides, I did get a chance to wear the full regalia again last week doing a bridal photo shoot which was fun.”

“I assist with bookings for Clydebank Town Hall in the course of my work and as such, had a close working relationship with our registrar for West Dunbartonshire Council.  She wasn’t allowed to officiate at our ceremony as the Buchanan Arms was in a different Council area however she retired a month prior to our wedding and was then allowed to ‘marry us’ given that she was no longer employed by a neighbouring Council.  It was lovely having someone I knew carrying out the ceremony and made it that little bit more special.”

“I think my favourite part of the day was definitely the dancing!  We really wanted a party atmosphere and it definitely was that!  The speeches were also fantastic.”

“I loved our huge illuminated trees that we had at either side of the aisle, then later we had them at each end of our top table – they were stunning.  I also liked the fact that we incorporated our pets into the day by naming each of our tables after them.”

“I was rather proud of my ‘wishing well’ post box that I stayed up until midnight the previous night making!  We also had SSPCA Favors which I wanted from day one given that it allowed us to make a substantial donation to a charity very close to us.”

“When I look back I think of a day filled with fun and laughter, spending time with everyone we were close to in one place and everyone really enjoying themselves.”

“It’s a day to be enjoyed so chill out, let your hair down and don’t ruin it by being too stressed or overly fussy about minor details!  Have a good ‘bridesmaid team’ as their help and support can be invaluable – mine were fantastic, particularly my Maid of Honor who I couldn’t have coped without!”

STAR PLAYERS

Venue: The Buchanan Arms

Room Dressing: All Dressed Up

Florist: We had artificial purchased from Neets Blooms

Photographer: Gavin Butler

Videographer: John Stewart

Band: Wall of Sound

DJ: Ryan Gallacher

Our band and DJ were fab – everyone commented on how good they were and nothing was too much trouble.

Our photographer was also very good given that he had quite a laid back attitude and calm presence – he wasn’t too intrusive as some photographers can be.

The shop I purchased my dress from (Envious Bridal in Glasgow) also deserves a mention – the staff there were brilliant – even lending me jewelry from their store as my ‘something borrowed’.  They couldn’t have been nicer or more accommodating.
