We love Sloans at Braw Brides, and this styled shoot organised by the lovely Cat from Love Cat D Weddings & Events shows off the venue and all these talented Scottish suppliers perfectly!
"The inspiration for the shoot began from my love of colour; the brighter and bolder the better! All too often brides to be tend to shy away from a colourful palette for their wedding and I wanted to show how colour can work and that you shouldn't be scared of it. When considering a setting for the shoot, Sloan's had immediate appeal. The dark woods and moody atmosphere felt like the perfect backdrop to make the colours I had in mind really stand out and pop!"
"When deciding on suppliers, my first port of call was the wonderful Wendy of Flossy and Dossy, who had made my own beautiful bespoke wedding dress. I had no doubt I wanted to get Wendy on board, her dresses are beyond stunning and when I explained what I was looking for, Wendy made the dress especially for this shoot."
"I had seen both Gillian of Pin Up Hair and Cat Robertson's fabulous work in other shoots they had been part of alongside Wendy and was keen to work with them because of that."
"For creating the cake, I contacted Jennifer of For Goodness Cake who I had used for my own wedding cupcakes the year before - she did an amazing job and I really wanted to showcase her incredible talents."
"One of the key elements of the shoot was the huge round colourful balloons. They really stand out and can be used not only as decor but a great alternative for bouquets in photographs, plus who doesn't love balloons at any celebration?! When I got in touch with Leona and Kellyann of Le Lumiere explaining what I was looking for, they were thrilled to get involved and take part."
"The beautiful flower arrangements were put together by Melanie of Briar Rose Design, who's work I'd came across through a shoot she did where the model had a swimming cap made purely from flowers! I had to get her involved from that moment."
"Finally our photographer Julia Graham was recommended by Wendy, she had worked with her recently and felt Julia would be a great fit for what I had in mind and she wasn't wrong!"
"As a new business I wanted to put together a styled shoot for a number of reasons... to meet and collaborate with a variety of talented suppliers, flex my creative muscles and promote the value a wedding planner can bring in our industry. As weddings get bigger and involve more and more details, it can take up a lot of time and planning - not too dissimilar from organising a styled shoot!"
