katie + paul | loch lomond waterfront

Katie and Paul were married on 27th June at Loch Lomond Waterfront. They were planning their wedding for just 6 months. "We got engaged in November 2014 and after Christmas decided that we wanted to get married before Paul deployed again in August.  We set the date in January and got married in the June" Huge thanks to Chantal and Scott from The Gibsons for sharing their images of the day. You can catch them on their brand new website, Facebook or Instagram.

"We are from the west coast of Scotland and loved the idea of getting married on the loch side. The lodges were gorgeous and the setting was just what we were looking for. Sheena, the venues wedding planner, was lovely and really helpful which was another reason for choosing the venue."

"I loved all the planning.  I enjoyed seeing it all coming together quickly and not having to wait too long for our big day."

"Paul is a solider in the Army and was away on exercise abroad for 6 weeks when we first started planning the wedding. He was really surprised and happy with how much I had managed to organise while he was away. Not one for organising events he was happy to let me be the one organising all the details! In the 6 weeks prior to the wedding he was on his promotions course which he passed out from the day before the wedding! Due to the these commitments I did most of the planning but he always gave an opinion when asked! "

I found my dress reasonably easily - in the second place I went to. Due to the short time scale I knew finding a dress might be tricky however Elaine at Wedding Wise was brilliant. She told me not to panic and she would only show me dresses that she knew she could get in on time. The dress was strapless and covered in lace and detailing. It had a lace high necked sleeveless jacket which I wore for the ceremony, drinks reception and meal. I removed it for the dancing in the evening."

"The day was everything! I was so laid back and relaxed about the day that it meant I could enjoy every minute of the day. I suppose if I had to pick a favourite moment it was saying our promises to each other during the ceremony."

"When we ended up having an unintended theme related to the charity Help for Heroes. My husband was injured while deployed with the Army and after a long road to recovery he has been back at work for almost 2 years now.  The best man asked if he could wear a kilt made up in the Help for Heroes tartan.  After that we decided that rather than buying favours for people our favours would instead be a donation to Help for Heroes. I always wear a Help for Heroes wristband and didn't really want to take it off for the wedding. In the end I tied it on to the underside of my dress.  This charity is one very close to our hearts and it meant so much to us both that this became part of our wedding."

"For me the clearest part of the day was the people.  Everyone was so relaxed, chilled out, calm and happy! Sheena from the moment I booked the wedding venue to the end of the night on the day was brilliant.  Her team made sure the day ran smoothly. Everyone that was there was fantastic Scott and Chantal (our photographers) made me feel super relaxed.  Laura and the Pro Bridal team did a fabulous job with my hair and make up as well as my bridesmaids'.   All my amazing family and friends were there to share our day and that made it even more special."

"Remember to enjoy the build up to the day and the day itself. As long as you two are happy that's what really matters! Try not to get stressed out by the little things, the more relaxed you are the more you will enjoy it."

"Elaine at Wedding Wise offered a really personal service and knew what she was talking about. She offered advice and was supportive, the fact I was trying to get a dress and bridesmaid dresses within 5 months was no trouble."

"Chantal and Scott (our photographers) - for them nothing was too much trouble, their service was so personal and they were so enthusiastic about the day. No query was too daft and everything we asked for was accommodated. I loved being able to see the photographs of Paul and his family getting ready as I had obviously missed all of that part. They were so quick at getting our online album with all our pictures up on it!"
