Kirsten and Pol were married on 9th August at The Recital Rooms at City Halls in Glasgow... "we were planning for about 9 months! We decided in the November to finally set a date!"
"I had a really clear idea of what I wanted my dress to be like, I have always loved tea length, 1950’s style wedding dresses. Lisa at Dragonfly Dress Design in Glasgow was fantastic at helping me find the perfect dress. I had a tea length dress with a lace body and long lace sleeves. I also had a mint green sash and petticoat to match the bridesmaids dresses. I had Irregular Choice heels for during the day and found mint green glittery converse online which matched the petticoat perfectly."
"My favourite part of planning was Pinterest boards! I loved pouring over various themes and ideas online. We were also really fortunate and thankful that the vendors we had hoped were available for our wedding were free on our chosen date - that made planning not so stressful!"
"My husband Pol is quite laid back, he was good at stopping me getting too stressed out with planning! We made a list of what we needed to do and I did the emailing and phoning suppliers! Our daughter Leah was also an excellent help! She really enjoyed helping with planning!"
"I loved the big white room that we had our ceremony and reception in - it was a blank canvas and we didn’t have to worry about making sure our colour scheme matched the decor of the venue! We also wanted a central location for the wedding so it was easy for our family and friends to travel to and from."
"We had a Christian ceremony which was carried out by Ross Mitchell, a minister from Pol’s side of the family. My parents are very involved in their church so felt it was important that we had a religious ceremony even though we weren’t getting married in a church."
"Pol and I have been together since we were teenagers so it was lovely to finally be married and feel like a proper wee family! My favourite part of the day was probably just getting to spend our wedding day with fantastic family and friends. It was lovely to have everyone together, our close friends from Australia had managed to come over for the wedding too which was amazing."
"My favourite detail of the day was probably the photobooth at night! As part of our evening entertainment we had booked The Bygone Photo Booth Company, who are just fantastic and so friendly! I think everyone popped in for a shot or two, who doesn’t love fancy dress!? Also they provide a guestbook with all the photos inside which is a lovely keepsake."
"My clearest memory is probably the speeches at dinner, my Dad and brother in law both delivered excellent and funny speeches. I think we were both a bit more relaxed at this point and had got over the nerves of the ceremony!"
"Don’t panic about planning and try to enjoy it! Everything falls into place eventually!"
