Sophie and Todd were married on 19th August at Dirleton Kirk with a reception at Archerfield House. They were planning their wedding for 18 months. Huge thanks to Sylwia and Simon from Crofts and Kowalczyk for sharing their images of this gorgeous day. You can catch them on their website, Facebook or Instagram.
"My Dad has played golf at Renaissance on the same property as Archerfield for a number of years and we would always drive past the main house on the way - my mum and I always said I should get married there and wave off the balcony (which we eventually did!)."
"Archerfield has beautiful scenery indoor and outdoor! We loved being by the coast and East Lothian seems to have its own microclimate where the sun does alway make an appearance."
"We were able to have all of our family stay in the main house over the weekend which was really special for us and turned the wedding into a three day event! We had a fabulous dinner the night before the wedding with our closest family members/bridal party which was so nice for the last people who hadn’t met each other to meet before the wedding day and for everyone else to catch up and be excited together. There were a few great impromptu speeches! Also there was lots of additional accommodation for other friends travelling in and given that I grew up in Hong Kong and Todd is from Nottingham we had a lot of people coming up for the event which made everything much more straight forward for people to plan."
"The men were able to play golf in a tournament the day before the wedding whilst the girls were at the spa. And a large group also were able to go for a nice coastal walk."
"Finding a dress that I loved felt like a big weight off my shoulders. We loved getting lots of very excited RSVPs - this made us feel very special. Seeing everything come together in the last few meetings with our planner from the Archerfield event Team. Kirsty, was a favourite part of planning."
"Todd was helpful - mostly when it came to devisions about food!"
"My parents were the biggest help, especially given that we were both working full time. I knew my Mum would always be great and she was incredible! My Dad was also extremely supportive and engaged - he sorted out lots of things including wedding cars, the grooms/groomsmen/fathers entire outfits and all of the accommodation for all the guests visiting from out of town. He definitely was not your average hands off Father of the Bride."
"Kavelle in Edinburgh is great. Kavelle herself was super friendly and patient. She was very knowledgeable when it came to alterations and knowing what would look nice. The shop is beautiful and luxurious where it was easy to see all of her stock and try dresses on. There was plenty of space to walk around in the gowns and lots of natural light to get a good idea of dresses would look like inside and outside."
"We had a Religious ceremony performed by Richard Cornfield from Mustard Seed Edinburgh - he was fabulous and had a perfect blend of being personable/friendly but professional. He is a family friend and we received lots of compliments about his service from guests."
"I personally loved having all our most important family and friends in one place at one time! Everyone smiled and laughed the whole day which was amazing to watch."
"Also after the ceremony our driver gave us some surprise champagne to drink in the car and took us on a scenic detour before heading to the reception to give Todd and I some time alone together to digest everything that had just happened in the ceremony which was a nice touch."
"I also loved spending some time together on this beautiful rock that overhangs the beach just as the sun was going down. It was the perfect break before the evening dancing really took off."
"All of the flowers put together by the Planet Flowers team! As a tribute to both of our late grandmothers who loved flowers the put some special vases together with their pictures as a memorial for them. They also created the most incredible ‘flower cloud’ or hanging installation over our top table which took everyone’s breath away when they entered the Waterfront Pavilion."
"As a pair of gin lovers we named each table after a gin and gave the guests the corresponding miniature as their wedding favour which went down well!"
"Even when it becomes stressful enjoy the planning process because it goes so quickly and then suddenly its done!"

"Archerfield Events Team - Kirsty put up with a lot! Not only from us but also from my parents who were heavily involved in the planning. She was always calm and got everything sorted. She knew everything we needed to do so we literally couldn’t forget anything. The day ran perfectly without any hitches thanks to her and all of her team."
"Simon and Sylwia were fab! As two slightly shy people in front of a camera they made us and our families feel super relaxed. They captured so many amazing moments and details from the day that looking back through our photos really brings back great memories. They were always smiling and relaxed and never controlling/intrusive. Plus they made us look pretty good too!"
"Gemma and all at Planet Flowers - the flowers were extremely important to me and my mum because of how much we love them but also how much my late grandmother loved them. Gemma took all our ideas and still managed to completely blow us away with how incredible the flowers were on the day. We cannot tell you how many people complimented us about ‘the best flowers they’d every seen at wedding’. Gemma then also helped arrange for the flowers to be taken after the wedding to a local hospice so that they were able to bring joy to others who needed it. This was especially heart warming for my family given my Grandmother has spent time in a hospice before she died."
"Stewart and Alina from White Balloons - they worked perfectly with Simon and Sylwia and most of the time we didn’t even notice they were there. It has been so nice to watch parts of the wedding again and relive all those moments."
