Carol and Peter were married on 22nd November 2014 at West Brewery and had their reception at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. They were planning for 6 months. Huge thanks to Emma Lawson Photography for her images of the day! "West Brewery is close to our first home together and we have spent a lot of time there! For our reception, we wanted somewhere easy for our guests to get to and from and we fell in love with the amazing view from our room which looked straight down Buchanan Street."
Making the invites was Carols favourite part of the planning process... "It was a lot of fun making these and we were so excited posting them out."
"Peter was very involved! He got involved making decorations and invites, phoning venues and general organisation - he may have been more involved than I was!"
"I started out saying I wanted ‘something different’ and that my worst nightmare would be to go to a wedding dress shop. However, having ordered a few unsuccessful dresses online, I went to a wedding dress shop and I loved the first dress I tried on! The dress was quite a simple, straight style. It was all lace and originally it was strapless but I had small tulle straps added."
"There were so many amazing parts of the day! The Humanist ceremony was perfect for us; it was quite intimate and very personal. We also had a Quaich ceremony during our service that both mums were involved in too which was lovely."
"The dancing was really fantastic – our band Kilter were brilliant and kept everyone going all night. They had a few ‘party tricks’ to get people on the floor and we had so much fun."
"We made all of our own decorations. We had a travel theme and we were especially pleased with our bunting, hand-made using map wallpaper and gold spray paint. I also absolutely loved the men’s buttonholes which my mum had made from dried flowers."
"Hearing the piper playing from my flat is my clearest memory and all of us girls getting a bit excited that it was almost time for me to go and get married!"
Carols advice to other brides is to "Have fun!! Make as many of your own invites and decorations as possible - just make sure you’re not still making things the week before the wedding! Shop bought invites do look great however we had so many lovely comments about our invites; we were really glad we had spent the time making them."
"We absolutely love our photographs. One of my favourite photographs is of Pete and I walking away down a path in Glasgow Green, towards the People’s Palace. There are also some great photographs of us hugging just after being caught in the rain!"

"We cannot recommend our band (Kilter) and our photographer (Emma Lawson) enough; they really made our day memorable!! Emma Towle made a fantastic job of our cake – we had a suitcase cake with a sandcastle on top and she got our ideas just right (also including a delicious gluten free layer). West Brewery were extremely flexible. They were happy to meet the needs of individual guests; they made it very easy to cater for everyone. They also took care of decorating the room and our wedding coordinator, Rebecca, was on hand all day. It felt very personal and relaxed. And finally, the catering manager, Angus, at the Concert Hall was so helpful in the lead up to the wedding and he was around for the whole evening. He really made sure everything ran smoothly and that all of our guests were catered for. Craig Flowers was also brilliant and we would recommend him to anyone looking for a more personal wedding."
