Charlotte and Darren were married on 28th August 2014 at the amazing Big Wooden House on Arran and were planning their wedding for a year and a half. Thank you so much to my good friend Marc from One Big Picture Photography for the brilliant images of the day! You can catch Marc on Facebook and Twitter too.
"After seeing the house online I needed to see it in person. As its a holiday home we could book out an entire week there with family which made the wedding feel like the vacation wedding I always wanted. The house itself felt so cosy and inviting, perfect for a small wedding. We went for a chat and tour of the house with the owner and left with our wedding booked!"
Charlottes favourite part of the planning was watching her flower girl try on dresses! "She had so much fun twirling around in the two dresses that we ended up buying both!"
"Darren sorted out all of the mens kilts, helped write the invites and was involved with menu choices. Most other decisions he was happy to help out with though he took complete control of the alcohol choices!"
"I struggled with the choice between a £3k princess wedding dress which was completely over budget but I loved, and an equally lovely mermaid dress which was the winner in the end. I then fell pregnant and was going to be 31 weeks pregnant on the big day so had to go maternity wedding dress shopping!"
"The Church of TLC married us, they are similar to a Humanist wedding though they are open to customising your wedding as much as you want! We had a completely bespoke ceremony which our guests and us loved!"
"My favourite part of the day was our first dances! “Home Sweet Home” by Motley Crue and “I Was Made For Loving You” by KISS. The music continued in anthem rock for the rest of the night."
"My favourite detail of the wedding was both mine and my bridesmaids shoes! We both had customised shoes with important names and dates for us both."
"My bridesmaid and I made little boxes filled with items from companies based on the island. "
"Marc, our photographer printed and mounted a photo from our pre-wedding shoot which guests all signed on the mounting."
"I loved spending time with the people involved in all the details! Listening to everyones ideas and enthusiasm just made me all the more excited."
"My clearest memory is my flower girl and page boy trying to get each others attention throughout the ceremony. With less than five minutes left of the ceremony my flower girl proclaimed “I’m bored!”"
Charlottes advice is simple . . ."People are always going to have differing tastes and the only one that matters is yours! Don’t get caught up in trying to please everyone else, just go with your own vision."
