corinne + paul | linlithgow burgh halls

Corinne & Paul were married just days after Christmas on 28th December 2013 and were planning their wedding for only a few weeks! #brave "We got engaged on 16th Oct 2013 and married in the December." They picked the gorgeous Linlithgow Burgh Halls. Thank you to Jawn McClenaghan for sharing these brilliant images with us.

"From the outside it is a beautiful old building, but the interior is so crisp and bright. I loved the mixture of the old fireplaces and the modern chandeliers." Corinne loved everything about their wedding planning, "I absolutely loved putting our wedding together. We used The Great Gatsby and Art Deco theme as inspiration for our wedding, so I really enjoyed looking at deco images and sourcing items which tied in with the theme." And didn't she do an amazing job, even down to art deco nail art! Corinne & her bridesmaid's hair and make up was done by my fabulous friends at Made Over Ladies.

"I only spent one Saturday looking for a wedding dress. Initially I didn’t really want a traditional wedding dress, I thought I wanted a pale grey embellished evening dress! I had made two appointments at dress boutiques just for the experience of trying on big dresses, neither were too happy that I wasn’t giving them at least 6 months notice. So my bridesmaid Lynn made a last minute appointment for another boutique and it was in that one which I found my dress! The staff were absolutely amazing, and had no concern whatsoever that I needed the dress within 7 weeks! It was white satin, very slim fitting, with a low back and cowl neckline with beautiful embellished shoulder straps that had glass beads hanging from them in strands. I had a white feather cape to wear over the top." Corinnes dress is from Ederra Bridal Studio and her amazing flowers are by Vicky’s Flowers.

"I just loved that we had such a strong theme running throughout our day, some guests made a really big effort to dress in 1920’s style which was lovely. Everything had a really strong deco theme, even our homemade photobooth which was a large smiling half moon which was a strong motif from 1920’s films. Everyone loved our favours; We had wrapped them up in silver paper and topped them off with our C&P deco motif which we used on all of our stationery, so they looked really decadent but inside were chocolate oranges since it was Christmas time! We did have a thumb print tree for our guests to leave their mark on our day, which is now framed and hangs in our hall as a lovely reminder of the day."

"We had a civil ceremony which we had written our own vows for. There are too many of my favourite parts of the day! The ceremony was so beautiful; there was not a dry eye amongst the guests! I loved that my friend Lindsay played the violin for us during the ceremony, and that my brother did a really emotional reading as these things gave it a really personal touch. It was so fun when all the guests were whooping and cheering whilst waving their confetti wands as we left! The speeches were all fabulous and really funny, we had a ceilidh, which was great fun and hilarious as we had lots of friends visiting from England who had never experienced that type of dancing."

"A really lovely moment was before my Dad and I left to go to the venue and he presented me with a married couple charm for my silver charm bracelet. As the Registrar said ‘You may kiss the bride’ Paul grabbed me in a dramatic old movie style swoon which I was not expecting so it nearly knocked us both over, but it was a fun moment and very us!"

"We had a lot of family and friends who helped out in the planning of our wedding, it was nice spending time with them bouncing ideas off of each other. Paul was very involved, we shared all the tasks, He had a large part in designing the inside of our invitations, order of service and table names. He really enjoyed investigating Art Deco style fonts and 1920’s phrases to incorporate into our stationery."

Corinne's advice is very valuable, "Stay true to your own style. Let you and your groom’s individuality shine through. Don’t get carried away with extravagant extras which detract from your personalities."

Corinne & Paul's wedding is a fabulous example of taking a theme and going for it, with exceptional results!
