leeann + ben | guthrie castle

I've moved East for our next Scottish wedding, with amazing images from Burfly Photography. Leeann and Ben got married on 28th September 2013 at the stunning Guthrie Castle in Forfar and were lucky enough to have beautiful weather and get married outside in their botanic garden. I have been lucky enough to be at guest at a wedding here a few years ago, it is a fab venue.

Leeann and Ben were excited by the idea of getting married outside, and it is becoming more and more popular now in Scotland. You may think we don't get good weather, but I have been to and blogged about many weddings now that have had their ceremony outside, all you need is that 30 - 45minutes of dry weather and you are good to go! Even when the sun isn't shining, many Scottish wedding venues look fabulously dramatic!

"We were looking to get married at a castle location and fell in love with Guthrie castle when we saw their website. We also loved the idea of an outside wedding."

Leeann wore a Jenny Packham dress and doesn't she look stunning! Choosing it was her favourite part of the whole planning process. "My dress was called Arabesque by Jenny Packham, which I saw on the Jenny Packham website. There are only a few suppliers in Scotland and none of them actually had that particular dress, therefore Pan Pan in Edinburgh had to source it from a supplier in England and have it shipped to their store. It was a strapless, ivory embellished gown." If you want it, you can get it! If you have found that perfect dress, there will be a way of finding it, as Leeann found.

These beautiful flowers were by Stucio and Waow. Leeann loved every part of their wedding day, "I loved the whole day, one of my highlights was just after the ceremony when everyone was in a celebratory mood and chatting and enjoying themselves in the garden reception area."

Leeann made their name cards on her own, right up my street!  "I made the table name cards myself. I bought some vintage postcards online from 'not on the high street' and handwrote the table names, which were all city's we have visited as a couple. This also tied in well with the table plan board which was a vintage style world map. I enjoyed doing this myself as it meant it was unique and how I wanted it to look."

Your photographs are so important as sometimes your day can become a bit of a blur. It is lucky Leeann and Ben chose Burfly Photography who have taken the most stunning images! "Most of the wedding day itself is a bit of a blur, therefore the clearest memory is actually myself and the bridesmaids getting our hair and make-up done and getting ready." Leeann & her bridesmaids hair was done by Beautiful You and make up by Signature Make Up.

As Leeann says, your photographer and videographer are literally your eyes for the day! "My advice would be to plan well in advance. We were lucky to get all the suppliers we wanted because we booked them more than a year in advance. Choose a great photographer and videographer, at whatever expense, as they are your eyes for the day. I loved all the photos from the day- they all portrayed the story of our day so well from start to finish."

A big thank you to Burfly Photography for sharing their brilliant images with us! You can catch them on Facebook and Twitter too.
