We really do have some of the most beautiful places here in Scotland. In September, the lovely Sonia from Gioia Mia travelled to Iona for a shoot and this is what was created over there, so gorgeous! I caught up with her and she told me a little more about what happened... I was really excited when photographer and makeup artist Charmaine Gittens suggested putting together a small photo shoot team and travelling to Iona to do the shoot. Charmaine had a very clear picture of how she wanted the shoot to look, and had bought a dress especially so that she could ask the model to walk on the beach (and in the water too) without worrying about damaging the dress."
"Amy, our florist, put together the most beautiful bouquet, the colours and style of which looked incredible against the Iona landscape."
"I chose some understated and elegant pieces, that suited the model and that complemented the delicate detailing on the dress without taking away from the beautiful flowers that Amy had created."
"Charmaine picked a day at the start of September, and we all then kept a keen eye on the weather forecast, hoping for some sunshine at least. On the day itself, we left Glasgow at 6am to begin our journey to Iona. We first drove to Oban; then took the ferry to Mull; drove to the other side of Mull; took a second ferry to Iona; and then walked to the top of the island with all our equipment, to the beach that Charmaine had in mind for the shoot. The beach itself was absolutely breathtaking and completely deserted - there weren't even any footprints on the sand!"
"Looking at the images, it's hard to believe that we were in Scotland; the sand was actually very white, the water turquoise, the light very bright. We got back to Glasgow at midnight that same day, having travelled six hours to Iona and then six hours back. Each of us knew that we had been somewhere incredibly special and each of us carried as much of that feeling home with us as we could. We hope you enjoy our images!"
