jennifer + graeme | fasque house

Jennifer and Graeme were married on 13th June at the beautiful Fasque House in Fettercairn. They were planning their wedding for just over two years. Huge thanks to Kirstie at Kirstie Abbey Photography for sharing her images of their day.

"Fasque House is a true fairytale. From the moment we drove up the driveway towards the house we knew that this was the place we wanted to get married. The immaculate gardens, dramatic staircase in the main hall & beautifully decorated rooms throughout completely took our breath away. After visiting Fasque we coudn’t imagine getting married anywhere else."

"I loved wedding planning, I lost hours on Pinterest! A huge part of the planning process for me was spending time with my maids, planning and researching my ideas to create the wedding vision I had in my mind. I had such fun poring over wedding magazines and blogs with my girls sipping cocktails. For Graeme and I, the best part of the planning was seeing our ideas and thoughts come together."

"Fasque is an exclusive use venue, meaning we literally had to organize everything ourselves, including the bar and catering. Selecting which food and drinks we were going to have at the reception was fun. Ultimately we decided on all of the main things together such as venue, band, videographer and photographer but he left me to it when it came to all of the little details which I was more than happy with ☺. Graeme did a wonderful job of planning our amazing honeymoon to India."

"As any bride wants to I tried on as many dresses as possible and had great fun doing this with my family and bridesmaids. The one I chose in the end was the complete opposite of what I thought I wanted. When I tried it on it felt different to all of the others so I knew it must be the one. I got my dress from Angelique Lamont in Glasgow. Designed by Ronald Joyce, my gown was a strapless, sweetheart style gown with a dropped waist and flowing tulle skirt. The sweeping train was perfect for my entrance down the staircase at Fasque. The bodice was delicately scattered with pearl and diamantes, which I complimented with my beautiful veil and accessories from Melle Cloche- love that shop!  My Mum’s outfit was fate as we found it in the shop right next door called Mia Bella. The bridesmaid dresses were Kelsey Rose from Dressage in Peterhead, I loved the draped straps on their dresses. My flower girl, Hannah’s, dress was from Monsoon."

"Our minister Robin took a lot of time to get to know us in the months running up to the wedding, so our ceremony was very personal to us. He was fantastic and we have had a lot of compliments about the ceremony itself. We also had two readings which our friends did for us. It meant a lot to us both to have our friends involved in our ceremony. Hannah our flower girl and her friend Rebecca sang a Gaelic love song while we signed the marriage certificate- I don’t think there was a dry eye in the whole room. As a nod to our Scottish roots, we also shared some whiskey from the Quaich with everyone, which our groomsmen passed around, this went down very well with the guests. Our string quartet The Dotted Crotchets played beautifully throughout the ceremony and during the drinks reception."

"I couldn’t specifically choose one favourite part of the day. I literally loved every second of it! Having all of our family and friends together for the weekend was definitely a highlight, as we loved being able to spend so much time with everyone. There was a moment during the wedding dance when our amazing band ‘House Arrest’ had the dance floor in full swing and Kirstie Abbey, our photographer, took Graeme and I to the staircase for some photo’s. We laughed so much as we posed for pictures while all of our guests were dancing underneath us. Another special moment was during our first dance as Mr and Mrs. Graeme very sweetly, told me where we would be going for our honeymoon, after keeping it secret for months! I was delighted and in tears all at the same time."

"I loved seeing all of the little details come together. My mum is very creative and she made all of our stationery, table numbers and ladies favours which were beautiful, vintage tea cup candles, in rustic brown paper gift bags. We spent two years collecting the tea cups from all over the country! The centre pieces were candelabras draped with peony roses and pearls. A couple of the candelabras even had tea cups filled with flowers on them. Jill our florist knew exactly how I wanted everything to look, she was fab. Instead of the traditional guest book we opted for a fingerprint tree which we will be able to hang in our house and display as a momento of our day. The wedding cake was simply stunning, a work of art. It was 4 tiers and carried on the pink, pearls and peony theme."

"Spending the morning getting ready with all my girls in the gorgeous powder room, sipping on champagne and being pampered is my clearest memory! Walking down that incredible staircase with my Dad to the quartet playing Canon in D was truly amazing. My heart was pounding the whole way down until I got to the bottom where Graeme was standing."

"Everyone always says your wedding day goes by quickly but you don’t realise how quickly until its actually happening. Take time throughout the day with your new husband to breathe and simply take everything in. You don’t want to miss a single moment! You both work so hard creating the day of your dreams and you deserve to enjoy it and be proud of your vision and ideas all coming together."

"I was delighted with all of our suppliers and would recommend them all in a heartbeat. Kirstie, our photographer went above and beyond even helping me get ready and being on hand with tissues & tic tacs! Her photos from our day are amazing and I would struggle to pick an absolute favourite as they are all great! Suzanne’s cake was just beautiful and she is such a perfectionist. The cake was designed to match our day perfectly. She also made us 200 Macarons which the guests enjoyed during the drinks reception. Jill’s flowers were everything I hoped for and more. I could go on..."
