Laura and Greig were married on 31st May 2015 at Boswells Coach House, then had their reception at Western House, Ayr. They were planning their wedding for two years. Huge thanks to the ever brilliant Chantal Lachance-Gibson for sharing her images of their day. You can contact Chantal via her website, Facebook or Instagram, and also see her at our #brawbridesworkshop on 28th February!
"We chose both venues to go along with our vintage rustic wedding theme. Boswells Coach House was like a converted barn with lovely open brick work and plenty of light. Western House had vintage-esk furniture and lovely open beams (and the food is fantastic)."
"I loved all of the planning, I loved each little detail and seeing it all come together in the end. Most of the wedding was all hand-made so it took a lot of time and effort but it was all worth it in the end."
"Greig was not very involved, he did come and look at the venues with me and choose the kilts but apart from that I had free reign."
"I really struggled finding my dress, I already had an image in my head of what I wanted it to look like. Then when I started dress shopping I soon find out when I tried on the dress style I liked I didn’t suit it. It then became quite a lengthy process, I eventually found a dress that I loved in Opus Couture (who I would highly recommend as the girls were all AMAZING!) and I wouldn’t have changed it. I had a tight fitting fishtail gown with a large train and lots of lace."
"We had a wedding celebrant taking our wedding, Christine Lyons. Her ceremonies are really personal and it was exactly what we were looking for."
"My favourite part of the day was our drinks reception at Boswell’s Coach House. We erected a marquee in the grounds and had Mr Mancini’s Ice Cream Cart, canapes and cocktails. I just wish I had a little more time to enjoy it!"
"I made my own guest book after our wedding. On the day I had a large vintage pin board with string attached and a polaroid camera. I asked each guest to take a picture and peg it to our board and leave us a message on our wish tree. After the day we matched them up and created our lovely guest book."
"My car journey with my dad to the wedding venue in our little vintage Beetle was my clearest memory. I think he was more emotional than me!"
"Take the time to enjoy the day, we had an early ceremony at 12.30pm so we had time to enjoy plenty of time to see all of our guests in the afternoon. We just provided some sandwiches and canapes so our guests weren’t too hungry by the time dinner came."
