tara + ciaran | rutherglen town hall

Tara and Ciaran were married on 29th August at Rutherglen Town Hall. A good few members of #teamBB were honoured to be involved in this wedding after meeting the happy couple at the Braw Brides Workshop back in March. AND you can see them all again at our Workshop this February! Including the brilliant Marc from One Big Picture Photography, huge thanks to him for sharing his images of Tara & Ciaran's day. You can catch Marc on his website, Facebook or Instagram.

Tara & Ciaran have the sweetest things to say about their #teamBB suppliers below too!

They weren't planning for long... "Less than 6 months! So all very exciting with not too long to wait! We fell in love with the Town Hall and they had a date free this year so we thought why not!"

"We liked the three different rooms available to us. We felt the varying sizes made it ideal as our day progressed. For our intimate wedding of 17 we were married in a small room with beautiful stone walls. For our small dinner we were able to move to the mezzanine floor with glass roof to enjoy our meal and the views. Later when our 160 evening guests were arriving we were able to move in to the large hall."

"Going to the Braw Brides Workshop at the Piping Centre and being able to organise several things in one day was our favourite part of the planning process! Pheww what a weight that was lifted!"

"Ciaran was very involved. He took a massive role and wanted a say in every aspect of the day. He was very excited. He actually delegated me jobs to do as he was so productive. Being a project manager he is used to taking on tasks and seeing them through to the end and overseeing every stage."

"Oh no, finding my dress took ages! I tried on so many (well over thirty). I had always imagined a 50’s style short dress however when I tried a few on, I knew it wasn’t for me. I eventually found a much bigger full length gown with lace along the top to hide my chubby arm insecurities."

"We had a Civil ceremony. We looked into Humanist, however didn’t feel a connection to any of the available Humanists in our area. Turns out our registrar was lovely and really got us!"

Ciaran: "My favourite part of the day was seeing Tara walking down the aisle."

Tara: "My favourite part was the end, knowing it was all done, and everything we had planned had been such a success and looking forward to waking up the next day as Mr & Mrs."

Ciaran: "My favourite detail was definitely the pork pie wedding cake!"

Tara: "The photo booth was a great success! We were surprised how many people got involved and we some hilarious pictures from that!"

Ciaran: "My clearest memory is seeing Tara walking down the aisle."

Tara: "Mine are waiting outside the room, waiting to walk down the aisle and unsure whether my nervous legs would actually hold me up long enough to make it down."

Tara: "My advice to future brides would be to enjoy it more. It’s so hard at the time not to get stressed and obsess over all the little details, however on the day, you’ll think it was all worth it, and even the things that go wrong, end up funny, and create the memories."

"Ciaran’s poor gran ended up being sick in the morning and this resulted in me having to drive around the venue for an extra 15mins while his gran nipped off to M&S to buy a new dress!"

Ciaran: "Enjoy it, don’t let other people influence your decisions."

"In all honesty, all of our suppliers were 100% FANTASTIC."

"Marc Bowker from One Big Picture Photography – What can we say. You got us straight away. We immediately knew it had to be you. Our pictures are fantastic and you really caught the mood of the entire day! You also were so incredibly helpful at pointing us in the direction of some other amazing suppliers which helped made our day so perfect. Thank you and keep in touch!"

"Claire Cameron at Claire Cameron Cakes - What a genuinely lovely lady! We were quite upfront about our carefully planned budget and Claire was brand new! She was honest and her prices were very fair. She was able to advise us straight away what we could get for our budget and little things we could add to make it so much more personal and us. And the cake tasted AMAZING! So pleased we chose Claire to be our cake lady!"

"Heather at Daisybelle Wedding Stationery – We were lost with invitations. Ciaran even spoke at points of making his own! Luckily enough I found Heather’s stall and was able to see some amazing designs to get us inspired. I had seen ticket style invitations online and Heather drafted us up some bespoke invitations which we could alter completely to suit us! Along with our invitations Heather had some cute wood cute magnets as save the dates on display. We liked them so much, we had to have those too however we changed them from save the dates, to thank you for coming magnets! Heather was very patient and we had quite a few drafts going backwards and forwards until they were perfect! Hats off to you Heather! Job well done!"

"Emma Brady from Betty Bluebell – Emma you are amazing! I showed Emma a swatch of Ciaran’s family tartan and said something along the lines of “make flowers like that”. Emma knew what I meant and was able to take the colours of the tartan and chose flowers which beautifully matched! Emma even came over to our house so I could show her the bridesmaid dresses and we chose very vibrant contrasting flowers for the girls. Emma was very lovely and very professional. She had loads of experience with weddings and really got us and what we were all about."
