sam + jamie | prestonfield house

Sam and Jamie were married at Prestonfield House on 31st July last year. They were planning their wedding for over a year. A million thanks to the brilliant Tub of Jelly for sharing their images of the day. You can catch them on their website, Facebook, or Instagram.

Prestonfield House swept the bride, Sam, off of her feet... "I did not expect to love such a traditional styled manor for the wedding venue but it was too magical to resist. The venue is elaborately and decadently styled so it is like stepping into the set of a period drama or like entering the movie Moulin Rouge (Sam's favourite movie). The Highland cows sealed the deal as I wanted a wedding with a Scottish feel."

"The beginning of the planning process was the most fun, as we had no idea what style of wedding we wanted, so I had to do lots of research which I enjoyed!"

"Jamie was quite involved to my surprise. Haha! He wanted to have a quality wedding so we had opinions on the main aspects of the wedding such as the food, wine selection and the venue."

"I found my wedding dress in one day of shopping. I was open minded and was happy to even get married in a dress that was colourful, a high street non-wedding style dress, vintage or printed. I tried on several styles and eventually tried on 'the one' and knew that I had to have it as my wedding dress. I had that dress moment that people speak of. The dress was on sale and it was the last one they had, so it felt like fate! The dress was a vintage old Hollywood glam style so I ran with this theme for the rest of my accessories which I decided to source from different stores and boutiques."

"The whole day was fantastic but signing the marriage papers and making it official was the best part of the day. We had a long engagement so to sign the papers felt fantastic."

"The flower arrangements which decorated our reception venue gave the wedding a beautiful extra touch that topped off the look that we wanted."

"Dancing at the end of the night with everyone is my clearest memory. It was so much fun and we had an amazing mix of music which we asked one of our best friends to create so he could be involved in the wedding."

"Do what YOU want as a couple and don't listen to others. We threw out the window many conventional wedding traditions, as we wanted to do the wedding our way that would make us happy. We loved our wedding as it was informal and did not have a strict schedule as most wedding do and it worked perfectly."

"Prestonfield House had the most professional, friendly and helpful staff. They went above and beyond. One of our guests manicured nails broke on the day, one of the staff members went to a shop and bought her a replacement nail in the same colour! We did not even ask them to. Like I said above and beyond service."

"Our florist Erin, that works at Narcissus was also amazing. She was so helpful and she made everything so easy for us."
