Emma and Scott were married on 13th June at Sacred Heart Church in Bridgeton with a reception at Strathallan Castle. They were planning their wedding for a year and a half. Huge thanks to Chantal and Scott from The Gibsons for sharing their images of a gorgeous day! You can catch them on their website, Facebook and Instagram.
"We visited fourteen venues in person and looked at over two hundred online. They were okay. The moment we drove to the other side of the trees and fields and were met by the sight of Strathallan Castle; my stomach had butterflies! Even talking about it now, I can’t stop smiling and I get that same feeling. The venue was everything we wanted; a mix between countryside, nature and castle. It was just mind blowing. It gave me such a unique wedding excitement. I don’t think I will ever get that feeling again."
"I am really creative and love art so my favourite part of planning was by far all the D.I.Y. touches I could bring to my day. I collected and decorated jars all year and used them as flower vases and candle holders. We collected lots of different bits and bobs to add to our day. I had so much fun making sign posts, pom poms and everything else you could imagine! We had little arty get togethers; where my family and friends would help make things for the big day! Everyone had something to offer. It brought everyone closer and made everything feel really personal."
"Scott was really involved which took a lot of the pressure off! He understood what I was trying to create. He had the same vision for our day but knew I was better at the arty, creative stuff so let me go crazy!"
"My dress was the first one I saw! I was at the Scottish Wedding show, I turned the corner and was met face on by my dress. It was on a main display stand in the shops booth. I stopped and gasped. My aunt and bridesmaid stopped behind me and gasped too. I knew it was the one! It was very classical and looked like a 1950’s princess dress. It was a beautiful blush colour and I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I made an appointment that week to try it on. I didn’t want to take it off! I tried others on just to see if the shape was right for me but no other dress came close."
"The food was mind blowing, the music was awesome and I smiled from start to finish! I loved the band we had playing during our canapes; Viper Swing; a gypsy jazz band. The music tied the whole theme of our day together perfectly and was an amazing touch. Our whole day had a fantastic atmosphere. The band at night; Seattle, had everyone dancing non-stop!"
"I think there are a few of my favourite details; however, our biggest was the attendance of my Army cadets. They created a Guard of Honour in the Church as I walked down the aisle and it meant so much to have them as part of my big day."
"I do remember answering the door to the florist, Briar Rose, and nearly crying at how beautiful the flowers were. The same with my cake! I totally forgot about all those touches you are surprised with on your day. Although you plan and book all these things, you don’t get to see the finished version till your big day. On a day you plan so meticulously, it was awesome to still be surprised!"
"I remember Scott grabbing me while I was dancing and taking me outside. I remember sitting with Scott on the hay bales in the garden and looking in watching our family and friends dancing the night away. It was a special moment, just the two of us, watching what we had spent so long creating."
"Grooms, every so often steal your bride and stand back and take in everything going on around you. People say your day goes by in a flash, but, I can honestly say, ours didn’t. We made sure that we stood back every little while and watched everyone we loved having fun. We made sure we spent time together to watch our day, to breathe it in."
"Also go round family and friends together, never apart! You will not see each other if you do! Remember to eat the food you spent so long choosing and dance to the band you picked!"
