leah + robbie | the cow shed

Leah & Robbie were married on 28th August at The Cow Shed, Crail. They were planning their wedding for only four months. Love all their DIY efforts for their special day, and huge thanks to Carole-Ann of Harper Scott Photography for sharing her images of the day. You can catch Carole-Ann on her website, Facebook and Instagram.

"The location and the Cow Shed’s rural charm were what drove us primarily, it was far enough out of any big towns to make it feel rural and special but also close enough to St. Andrews, Crail and other East Neuk towns and villages for our guests to find great accommodation."

"The natural charm of The Cow Shed made it the perfect DIY venue. It didn’t feel like a normal marquee venue - it felt warm, inviting and flexible, allowing us to really put our own creative stamp on their day."

"I only went to one bridal shop (Anna Rose Bridal in Dundee), I had an idea in my head of what I wanted and had a look at dresses online... low back, plain, long and slim (I didn't want the big meringue type dress). 'The one' was the third dress I tried on, it was gorgeous, quite heavily beaded and sparkly (not what I had originally imagined myself in), high necked, a low back, small train, and it fitted perfectly! My mum started crying so I knew it was the one and got it straight away!"

"We had an independent celebrant who was a friend of the family; she conducted the most personal and special service for us. With Pam being a friend of the family it made the service something unique and exactly what we were looking for."

"We were both so lucky to have both of our families involved in planning the day. We always wanted it to be a chilled-out, family event where everyone felt like they were coming round to a big family dinner. This meant that we all got involved in the planning and everyone had a chance to contribute to our big day."

"Our favourite part of the planning process was having a brother (in-law) that used to co-ordinate weddings and events for a living, for us it was brilliant to have someone around that is a dab hand at organising, planning and coordinating events. Everyone needs that someone to stop them from losing sight of the really important stuff about the day and to bring you back down to earth when the small stuff seems like the end of the world!"

"We had an independent celebrant who was a friend of the family; she conducted the most personal and special service for us. With Pam being a friend of the family it made the service something unique and exactly what we were looking for."

"We LOVED making our own decorations and stationery. This was a great way to get creative with family and friends and it meant that we all had something really special on the day that reminded us of the fun we had planning it!"

"Every second was my favourite part of the day, I just wish it hadn't gone so fast. A few bits that will stick with me is firstly walking into the Cow Shed and seeing both mine and Robbie’s friends and family in one place! I remember feeling so overwhelmed that all these people were here for me and Robbie; that was quite emotional! I also loved my Mums speech. She was amazing and gave the best man a good run for his money!"

"I am so lucky that I can still remember the whole day so vividly. It was so amazing to have all of our friends and family around that I just loved being there with everyone and seeing everyone having such a great time. All of the memories we made together that day will stay with us forever."

"I think my favourite detail has to be the lighting. The Cow Shed looked stunning lit up with festoon lighting, fairy lights and up-lighters, it looked so special."

"Even if you think you will manage you really do need an event coordinator on the big day! Don’t underestimate the amount of work that needs done on the day, organising the suppliers, making sure everyone knows how you want the service to be carried out etc. This all takes coordination and the last thing you want to be doing on your big day is answering questions from suppliers when you just want to be having a blast. Even if it is just to make sure that the day goes off without a hitch, having someone there on the day to take the pressure off really let us enjoy every moment and cherish all the memories!"

"Every single one of our suppliers were outstanding - they each provided us with an individual and personalised service. This was no standard off-the-shelf wedding day so they all had to think a bit differently from the norm and boy did they do us proud."

"Carole-Ann at Harper Scott Photography was beyond brilliant. Her eye for an amazing, unscripted shot is spectacular. Carole-Ann worked her socks off all day long to capture the best unscripted and unplanned moments with our guests. She also took the most amazing, alternative, different and inspired shots of just the two of us that we will cherish forever."

"The team at The Bijou Wine Co. with their horse box bar were outstanding in every way. Gillian and her team were commented on so many times by our guests for their friendliness and service throughout the whole day."

"Alistair and his team at Gourlays Events were just amazing, they were a massive part of our day and every one of the brilliant serving team took our family dinner personally! They were absolute superstars!"
