a sophisticated wedding in edinburgh city centre

Carla and Dexter were married on 25th May at The Principal Hotel in Edinburgh. They were planning their wedding for around seventeen months. Huge thanks to Shem from Strad Photography for sharing his images of the day. You can catch Shem on his website, Facebook and Instagram.

"It was the only venue we both absolutely loved. After viewing the venue we both left knowing 100% this was the perfect place for our big day.“

“My favourite part of planning was definitely at the beginning of the process; when you get to pick everything you need for the wedding. Your flowers, cake, photographer and so on. I found this to be the most exciting time when everything starts to become real.”

"Dexter was mostly involved in helping with the big decisions. Things that would matter to both me and him. As I was doing all the planning I left him in charge with planning the honeymoon.”

“The dress I chose was the second dress I tried on. I went on to try about another twenty but nothing made me feel as good as the second dress. What people say is true; ‘when you know, you know’. The dress itself was ivory and Art Deco in style, heavily beaded with lace on front and back, it was fitted close to body and the train of the dress was a fishtail.”

"The ceremony was my favourite part of the day. It was the most special moment of my life and the only part of the day I can remember so clearly. However the evening reception was fantastic; a great party, the dance floor was never empty.”

“My favourite detail was the ceremony room in the kings hall. The room itself is magnificent. We added our own touches to add to the feel. We ordered in simple but elegant chiavari chairs, a white aisle runner and beautiful vases full of lilies.”

“I did the favours myself along with the help of my sister and mother in law. We choose to do scratch cards. However we made cards that the scratch cards could slide into, with a message of thanks to all of our guests.”

“Make sure everything you do is for each other. It is your big day no one else matters, as long as it is everything you want it to be.”

“Shem at Strad Photography was a delight. So professional but at the same time very easy going. He quickly made us both feel very at ease. You need someone on your wedding day not only that you can trust but feel comfortable with and Shem was that guy. I would always recommend him to anyone looking for a photographer. Wedding photos are the thing you will always look back on and remember the day by. With our photos they sum up how perfect our day was, they could not have been more perfect. No matter who we show they always mention how stunning our photos are.”

“Also Louise Banks (hair) and eve Learmonth (make up); two girls who are definitely the best at what they do. Every bride wants to look their best on there wedding day and thanks to these two I have never felt more beautiful. Not only that but made me feel so comfortable through out my experience with them. I already knew throughout Edinburgh they both came highly recommend. Now after my experience with them I know why. Any bride would be lucky to have them.”
