sarah + ally | cambo estate

Sarah and Ally were married on 28th April at Cambo Estate. Huge thanks to Ross Alexander for sharing his images of the day with us. You can catch Ross on his website, Facebook or Instagram.

"We got engaged in May 2017 whilst on holiday in Berlin and once we got home, we started the planning. We went to see Cambo and totally fell in love with it.  There is so much flexibility for what you can do that it allows you to make it your own.  Food and drink were incredibly important to us, and Cambo allowed you to bring your own drinks and caterer (although by coincidence, the caterer we wanted was also one of the Cambo recommended ones).  Also, the staff there are beyond amazing."

"My favourite part of the planning process was the food; choosing the food, tasting the food, talking about the food."

"Ally was very involved. We made almost all of the decisions together. It helped that we both wanted the same things for the wedding day."

"I am not the most confident when it comes to how I look, so I was quite worried about the dress shopping, however my best friend suggested the store that she had got her wedding dress in a couple of years earlier, and they made the whole process so much easier!  The store was Anne Priscilla in Glasgow, and I couldn’t recommend them more.  My dress designer was Sassi Holford – and I actually got to meet her at my first wedding dress fitting as she was in store that day, which was very exciting."

"I genuinely enjoyed every part of the day – however, the speeches were quite special (and I know that was my husbands favourite part).  I gave a speech alongside my husband, father and brother-in-law, who was best man. There were some tears, funny stories, more heckles then you would expect and a lot of laughs."

"We were given a Polaroid camera and wanted photos of the guests alongside a message, however we knew that if we left this at the side then everyone would forget to do it or just take their own pictures home, so we gave this job to our friend Sabi. He did such a good job of getting everyone to put their photo in the book.  He also became one of the most popular guests as by the end of the night, he had met practically everyone!

"If possible try and make a weekend of it.  We had a dinner and pub quiz on the Friday night with close family and friends, and a barbecue on the Sunday.  The wedding day itself goes so quickly that you do not get a chance to speak to everyone so it was great to have that extra time."
