a sunny outdoor humanist ceremony at ardgowan estate

Lucy and Lewis were married on 12th May at the magnificent Ardgowan Estate. They were planning for almost a year exactly, Lewis proposed on Lucy’s 30th Birthday (9th May) the year before. Huge thanks to the lovely Suzanne from Kalisterscope Photography for sharing her images of the day with us. You can catch Suzanne on her website, Facebook and Instagram.

“We loved the grand house and gardens! But also the fact it also had a relaxed feel and we were encouraged to do what we wanted with the day. It was really important to us that the day reflected us and Adrian at the venue was so accommodating of this.”

“I enjoyed the majority of the planning process! It was always a great excuse to spend quality time together and with your closest friends and family.”

“Lewis was pretty involved in certain elements, he was actually the one that found the venue. He also made the wedding cake.”

“I found my wedding outfit in the first (and only shop) I went to! I went to Anne Priscilla Bridal in Glasgow. The shop assistant was brilliant and understood exactly what style I was going for (I was slightly obsessed with the idea of a top and skirt). In the end I went with a Halfpenny top and a David Fielden skirt.”

“I loved the ceremony, our Humanist celebrant, Stuart Rodger, was incredible and made it so personal. After that it was probably the drinks reception. I loved spending relaxed time with all my friends and family. Also, the food during the drinks reception went down so well!”

“We put together favours of our favourite sweets in jars. As we both have a sweet tooth, this was a tough task to limit them down! During the meal, there were some serious negotiations between tables to get the best ones, which was funny to watch.”

“Coming down the ‘aisle’ is my clearest memory. As I walked out of the house, all the guests were facing me. It was just special to be able to see everyone so clearly as I arrived.”

“Focus on what is important to you, and prioritise that in your budget. I was really focused on things that would make the day fun.”
