catriona & peter | the glasshouse

Catriona & Peter were married on 26th September 2014 at The Glasshouse, Queens Park, Glasgow. They were planning their wedding for 9 months. Big thanks to Ross from Number 94 Photography for sharing his images of the day. You can catch Ross on his websiteFacebookTwitter & Instagram.

"Queens Park was one of the first places we went to when we first started dating. We love it there, so peaceful. We liked the Glasshouse because it’s quirky and the fact that it’s a botanic garden too added colour to the big day."

Catriona's favourite part of the planning process was making the stationery... "We did all our stationery ourselves; invites, order of service, seating plan, place setting, the works! It was exciting playing about with the colour schemes to tie in with everything else and we were really proud how they all turned out."

"Peter was really involved throughout and on the day leading up to the ceremony. He’s a very calm person generally which in turn helped me keep calm during the planning." "I knew from the get go exactly the style of dress I’d like; simple and elegant. I actually got my wedding dress from Debenhams. The dress had a cowl neck line with beautiful lace and diamante detail covering my back. The front was very plain so I had some custom made embellishments added to the straps for some extra sparkle."

"We had a Humanist ceremony which was very personal to us. Our vows came from a Walt Whitman poem that we both like. The words just seemed to sum us up perfectly."

My favourite part of the day was walking back up the aisle hand in hand as husband and wife and seeing all our friends and family smiling with us."

"I loved our place settings! We used old champagne corks that I’d collected from local bars and brown luggage tags for the names which we stenciled on ourselves. Was quite time consuming but worth it."

"My clearest memory was the first dance. We picked a song that means a lot to us but is also quite fun. It was just a lovely few minutes of calm in the whirlwind of the day." "My favourite shot was a black and white taken from the back of the hall with all our guests having a great time during the meal. It’s what I pictured the day to look like in my head when we were planning it all."

Catriona's advice is simple... "Stick to your plans of how you want the big day to go! It’s easy to get caught up in the small details but just enjoy yourself."
