Let's start this post with Jenny's amazing dress!
"I found my dress a lot more easily than I thought I would. It was the fourth dress I tried on in the very first shop I visited. I wasn't sure of it on the hanger but my mum wanted me to try it on. So I indulged her even though I was set to go for the beautiful italian lace dress I had just taken off. I will forever be thankful to my mum for picking out the Amanda Wyatt dress because as soon as I put it on I knew it was perfect for me. It is a white chiffon dress with fitted bodice & flowing skirt. It laced down the back & had a beautiful across the body & over the shoulder flower garland attached. It needed no alteration apart from 1 little flower removed so it really was made for me!" Jenny's gorgeous dress was from Juliettes based in Paisley & Dumbarton.
"I really enjoyed choosing what our guests would be eating & drinking but my favourite day was the day went flowergirl dress shopping. I loved seeing my daughter trying on all the beautiful little dresses!" The flowergirl dresses were from Monsoon, and the amazing raspberry pink bridesmaid dresses were from Gowns & Crowns, Dumbarton.
I am sure you will agree with me once you have seen the amazing images from Gavin Butler Photography, that this venue is just FAB Jenny and Paul were married at The Culag, Luss on 13th July.
"We saw pictures online and liked what we saw but were unsure of the size of the function room. We made an appointment to go and visit. On the drive to the venue there was a beautiful, vivid rainbow in the sky which I took as a good sign. Then when we arrived there was a boat in the yard called 'The Jenny', another sign! The venue itself was the biggest sign of all... it was beautiful! It had everything we wanted in a venue. Right by the loch in a secluded bay, the function suite was modern, bright & the perfect size with a one of a kind extendable conservatory! It was a little slice of heaven."
We had a religious ceremony and the Minister was fantastic. She really understood us as a couple so it was a really personal service. Signing the licence is a vivid memory for me. Knowing I was legally becoming Mrs Watson was a great feeling. At the end of the night waving our guests off on the coach & strolling back to the room with my new husband is a part of the day I won't forget also.
Jenny and Paul's creative ideas really made their wedding their own! "I loved our centerpieces and our 'guestbook'. For our centerpieces we had various sized jars filled with a wonderful array of flowers & tealights. My friends, family & myself had spent months collecting jars, ribbon, lace and we even had 50 year old twine to decorate them all. Which took a couple of nights of gluing to finish them all. I kept a couple of them and gave the rest away. For the 'guestbook' I painted a canvas with a line from our song on it. It is hanging in our bedroom with some real interesting messages from our guests on it." This is such a great idea and so simple to do on your own!
Jenny has loads of amazing memories of their wedding day, "The whole day was wonderful. The sun was shining which meant we could get married on the lawn and there were no hiccups throughout the day. I have a couple of favourite moments; I enjoyed when I first arrived at the venue. My driver stopped the car at the top of the drive and I was able to just sit for five minutes watching everyone taking their seats. Another favourite was sitting at the top table during the speeches and just feeling so blessed to be surrounded by all the people we love. The ultimate best part of the day though was when we were lighting the lanterns at night and watching them float above the loch. Paul knew I really wanted to do that but I never got round to ordering them. He ran out on the final hour and bought thirteen of them... our lucky number! It was so funny trying to light them and send them on there way. Turns out our photographer & friend Gavin had filmed it for us. That was an extra special surprise!"
This photo of Jenny throwing her bouquet is my absolute favourite! It just captures the moment perfectly!
Of course, this wouldn't be a Braw Brides post without some invaluable advice from bride to future brides, "Try to be organised but you don't need to stick to the planning and price guides in all the wedding magazines. You can have a truly amazing day without breaking the bank, and most importantly... try to inject as much of yourselves & your personality into the day as you can. If you want something quirky or bizarre on your day & you can afford it, then go for it!"
This wedding was truly a Braw Brides affair! Thank you so much to Gavin Butler Photography for sharing his amazing images of Jenny and Paul's day! I gave a helping hand to Gavin on the day as his assistant, and I definitely learned what it was like to be on the other side of the wedding, as a supplier. Jenny and Paul's amazing wedding rings were also made by the talented Darren at Bejouled! Even Jenny's 50 year old twine for her gorgeous centrepieces came from my Grandas shed! What a lovely use for it!
