I think our next wedding on Braw Brides perfectly sums up what this blog is about; beautiful Scottish weddings. Sarah and Louis were married in Edinburgh Castle on the 20th April this year. Yes, I can hear you all saying 'WOW'. I can't think of a more spectacular venue!
I'm sure Sarah's photographer was over the moon to be able to photograph their wedding, and he has captured some amazing images which you will see in this post. I think they really tell the story of their day. Sarah and Louis loved their venue straight away, "We just went for a little look and fell in love with the venue as soon as we stepped in the door." As I've said many times, go with your instinct, you'll know your venue as soon as you walk in, as Sarah and Louis did!
After planning their wedding for a year, during which Louis was well aware he only had to "Show up on the day and look good", Sarah arrived in style at Edinburgh Castle in a white Range Rover Vogue from Phantom Scotland.
A wee change from the traditional vintage cars, the Range Rover brings Sarah & Louis' wedding bang up to date. I love it!
Sarah's dress is the epitome of 'princess', it's just gorgeous. Looking for THE dress was Sarah's favourite part of the planning process, and rightly so! She found it at Berketex. "I found my wedding dress in the second shop that we went into so it was quite easy. I actually went in thinking I wanted a completely different dress. I wanted a tight fitting, lacy dress, however, I came out with the most gorgeous Tom Flowers Luna design. Strapless, lots of sparkles, tight at the top and fanning out to the floor."
Sarah's make up was done by Gillian Galbraith. She looks beautiful!
Sarah's experience is so similar to lots of brides I've spoken to, and my own! You go in with an idea in your head, and you usually come out with the complete opposite! Sarah's dress is just stunning, and suits her grand venue so much. I love the shade of pink on her bridesmaid too, it's a simple choice but has a big impact! The bridesmaid's dress and flowergirl dresses are from Butterflies in Edinburgh.
Sarah's brother gave her away and she has a very clear and beautiful memory of him taking her hand in the car before they went down the aisle, and her favourite part of the day was the small amount of time her and Louis got on their own; "I genuinely loved every single part of the day but if I had to choose, it would be the 10 minutes Louis and I had together, whilst our guests viewed the Crown Jewels. We were able to take a step back and take it all in – amazing."
It's so important to take a step back as Sarah says and take it all in, slow down for a second and try and remember that moment, as afterwards the day will seem like a blur!
The photograph above is just my favourite from Sarahs selection. Philip at PSD Photography has done such an amazing job at capturing their dramatic venue but yet it doesn't overshadow the couple and their happiness in this image. We can all pick our venues based on how brilliant we think our photos will look, but at the end of the day it's about you in the photograph, not your surroundings.
And most importantly, Sarah has some great advice for future brides, " All brides to be will say this is easier said than done and believe me, I was the exact same but … do not stress about anything. Make the day exactly what you and your fiancé want it to be, enjoy the planning and remember you cannot please everyone!! When the morning of the day comes, take it all in your stride. If there is something that doesn’t exactly go to plan just go along with it (I bet it’s only you that notices it!). This is your big day – enjoy it."
I want to thank Sarah and Louis for letting us share their wedding on Braw Brides, and I would like to especially thank Philip at PSD Photography. He has made my job extremely easy by taking such beautiful images, telling the story of their day, meaning I don't need to write much at all!
Sarah and Louis' wedding is a great advertisement for Edinburgh and Edinburgh suppliers, I am a great believer in keeping things local and Sarah has made a point in choosing suppliers from her home town. A great showcase of Edinburgh and their fabulous wedding industry!
